Transforming lives with Good News in the Nation’s Capital

Honoring "An Incredible Servant"

Oct 13, 2026

In last week's email, we mentioned an award that one of our team members was surprised to receive during the Consecration of Our Courts, and now we are delighted to share the news!

On Monday, Oct. 5, the Judicial Action Group (JAG) Foundation honored Faith & Liberty's Patty Bills with JAG’s Peggy Nienaber Award for Christian Service 2026. Created in honor of Patty's twin sister, our exceptional ministry colleague who is now with the Lord, the award was also given first to Bert Demicell, Judicial Action Group Foundation treasurer and board chairman. Patty assisted with the presentation — not knowing what was coming next!

Phillip Jauregui, founder and president of the foundation, presented the award, explaining why it was created in Peggy's honor ... and then he completely surprised Patty by bestowing the award on her as well!

Phillip said: "[Peggy was] known for her biblical convictions. She didn't ever move. She was known for just being an incredible servant, working incredibly hard. She didn't just work hard. She made a massive difference ... impact all the time. Wouldn't it be neat that her twin sister, Patty, is just like her?"

Watch this moment of surprise on our Facebook page here.

We were also thankful to participate in the 3rd Annual National Consecration of Our Courts — a time to gather in prayer believing God can restore the courts to their constitutional design — which was held at the Museum of the Bible.

Other highlights include holding a Sunday service at the Ministry Center primarily for out-of-town guests who were not connected to a local church. Around 60 gathered to worship the Lord and hear His Word.

Sunday evening was also special with around 150 gathered outside the Supreme Court for a private communion event. We prayed for the Supreme Court Justices and upcoming cases, said the Lord's Prayer, and took communion together.

Faith & Liberty continues to bring the Gospel to the nation's capital, and we love uniting with other likeminded ministries to do so. Thank you so much for your prayers and gifts. You are encouraging and empowering us to fulfill our mission here on Capitol Hill!

YOUR GENEROSITY MAKES ALL THIS POSSIBLE!
  • Equipped to serve: King’s Church held another Equipping Class on Christian ethics in government this past Sunday at the Ministry Center for those who work on the Hill.
  • Inviting staffers to pray: Faith & Liberty will host another Open House for private prayer in one of the House office buildings this week. Pray that God will use us to minister to interns, staffers, or anyone else on Capitol Hill as we bring their cares and concerns to the Lord in united prayer.
  • Hearing God’s Word: The U.S. Capitol Bible Reading Marathon outside the Capitol Building will be held 24 hours a day nonstop from Saturday through Wednesday, Oct. 24-28. If you would like to publicly read a Scripture passage, please call Patty Bills at the Faith & Liberty office at 202-737-1776 to sign up or learn more.
  • Rebuilding the walls: The Nehemiah Alliance’s 52 days of unified prayer, fasting, and repentance has begun, and we are participating. This season of focused prayer is an opportunity to seek the Lord for our nation, our leaders, and spiritual renewal in our nation's capital. It will end Nov. 1, and a Sacred Assembly will be held on the National Mall on Oct. 31.
  • Digging into God’s Word: Pray for the leaders of our Bible studies and that many who work on Capitol Hill will participate, understand the Gospel, and fully turn their hearts to our Lord Jesus. We also participated in Senate Chaplain Barry Black’s virtual Bible study while Congress is in recess.
  • Encouraging young faith: We will attend a Hill Ministries luncheon this week with a special speaker addressing the faith of younger generations.
  • Mentoring meet-ups: We thoroughly enjoy meeting with and mentoring young people here on Capitol Hill. We value your prayers for these important one-on-one conversations and prayer times.
  • Honoring Christian leaders: We continue our preparation for upcoming events, including a pastors’ breakfast with Love Life Ministries, the Congressional Women’s Appreciation Prayer Breakfast, and the She Leads America tea and award ceremony.
  • Presenting the Christmas story: The holidays will soon be upon us! We are connecting with churches and moving full speed ahead for our Live Nativity to be held Thursday, Dec. 3. Pray for us as we juggle all the logistics and decide on a choir to participate. Thankfully we now have a few choir options!
