With House members just returned from recess and the Senate to be back in session in a couple of weeks, there is much unfinished business in Congress. That includes passage of the Save America Act, ending funding for Planned Parenthood, and a confirmation hearing for President Trump's nominee to lead the FDA, Dr. Heidi Overton.

Because of you, Faith & Liberty works daily to transform lives by sharing the Good News in our nation’s capital. And this quiet interlude before our schedule ramps up as Congress returns allows us to plan for soon-to-come events and reflect on the year thus far.

The year 2026 has been amazing, particularly as we are celebrating our nation’s 250th anniversary. It was a historic blessing to be present with thousands of Americans on the National Mall in May to hear House Speaker Mike Johnson rededicate America to God and to see Christian leaders call for repentance and give God the glory for what He has done in and through this nation. We pray this spirit of humility and unity deepens in the hearts of Americans across the country.

As is our custom, we started the year with the Sanctity of Human Life month, including the laying of red, white, and blue carnations on the steps of the Supreme Court to memorialize unborn lives lost to abortion in the America 250 Prayers & Remembrance — Victims of Roe remembrance. We also participated in the March for Life events and hosted the screening of a powerful pro-life documentary.

Speaking of the Court, we prayer-walked and prayed many times for the Justices and their decisions in critical cases that impact everyday Americans, including a significant case addressing men in women’s sports.

During National Day of Prayer week, we participated in Rooftop Prayer overlooking our nation’s capital from the House Speaker’s balcony and led the first Gen Z Rooftop Prayer this year. We also participated in the DC National Day of Prayer and prayed over the city and its leaders.

We honored God’s Word by hosting Bible studies at the Ministry Center. We participated in the public reading of the Word through our own Congressional Bible Reading, which included members of Congress reading the Scriptures, and through our chaplain, Rev. Greg Cox, who was selected to read during the America Reads the Bible campaign, which was nationally televised from the Museum of the Bible.

And those were just some of the highlights of the year so far! While our faces are known on Capitol Hill, some of our work is behind the scenes. Our focus must ever and always be on working as unto the Lord. As Colossians 3:23-24 reminds us:

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”

MINISTRY RECAP

  • Events abound! We’re working through details for several upcoming events, including the 24-hour Bible Reading Marathon outside the Capitol in October, the Consecration of the Courts’ private communion event, a barbecue for interns and staffers, a pastors’ breakfast with Love Life Ministries, the Live Nativity, and much more.

  • Studying the Word: More Bible studies and classes are planned to start after Labor Day. We look forward to seeing what God will do through these times with a new batch of fresh faces on Capitol Hill!

  • Ministering to men: We continue to minister to men’s ministries such as through our men’s Bible study. Our Hebrews study for men finished this past week.

  • Prayer Open House: We are grateful for the opportunity to have prayer meetings on the Hill, thanks to House Chaplain Margaret Kibben reserving a room for this special purpose. We have an open invitation to anyone who would like to be prayed for concerning any need.

  • Mentoring meet-ups: We thoroughly enjoy meeting with and mentoring young people here on Capitol Hill. We value your prayers for these important one-on-one conversations and prayer times.

  • America 250: Believers who are committed to praying for our country are invited to come together weekly at our Ministry Center for the America 250 prayer time. We gather to intercede for the nation’s capital and the government leaders called upon to make critical decisions on behalf of the American people.
