Covering the Capital: Gathering in His Name

Thanks to good friends like you, Faith & Liberty reaches out on Capitol Hill year round — when Congress is in session and when it is not. Right now, the House and Senate are out, but we're still very much at work to bring a Christian witness and biblical counsel to those who serve in government.  

For instance, Faith & Liberty hosts a monthly Prayer Open House on Capitol Hill. While our Ministry Center, also on the Hill, provides a central location for Bible studies, ministry events, and fellowship activities, we often go direct to the offices of members of Congress and their staff. This time, thanks to the kindness of House Chaplain Margaret Kibben, we have a special room dedicated to prayer. There is currently an open invitation to any and all who would like to come and be prayed for concerning any need. Our God listens and cares! 

Pray for good interactions and helpful conversations as we join our hearts to pray for needs that may not always be shared. We count it a great privilege to listen and pray in faith for God’s will to be accomplished in Washington and in states across this great land. 

God’s Spirit indwells and works through every believer, but we are also called to unify in prayer.  

“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them” (Matt. 18:20). 

It’s a beautiful thing to approach our King and ask in faith according to His holy will. This applies to our personal petitions and to our national needs. 

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us” (1 John 5:14).

MINISTRY RECAP

  • America 250: Believers who are committed to praying for our country are invited to come together weekly at our Ministry Center for the America 250 prayer time. We gather to intercede for the nation’s capital and the government leaders called upon to make critical decisions on behalf of the American people.

  • Studying the Word: The men’s Bible study is Hebrews is concluding this week, but there are many more Bible studies for men and women on our fall calendar!

  • Mentoring meet-ups: We thoroughly enjoy meeting with and mentoring young people here on Capitol Hill. We value your prayers for these important one-on-one conversations and prayer times.

  • Events abound! We’re working through details for several upcoming events, including the 24-hour Bible Reading Marathon outside the Capitol on Oct. 24, the Consecration of the Courts, a pastors’ breakfast with Love Life Ministries, the Live Nativity, and much more.
