This is a quieter season on Capitol Hill as it always is this time of year with Congress out for the August recess.

On the other hand, it's an invaluable time for Faith & Liberty to focus on planning for fall and winter ministry activities. The biggest and most demanding one of all — our Live Nativity — has our attention right now as we are putting new touches on this annual event, applying for all the necessary permits, and working to find a choir to enhance this year's musical program. As you know, many choirs have their own performances during the Christmas season, so it's a challenge to find a good choir to come on the date needed, December 3. Please pray with us for this special request, and if you know of a choir that just might be able to participate in this special event, please give Patty Bills a call at the Faith & Liberty office, 202-737-1776. It may seem early for Christmas, but holiday decor is out at retail, and before you know, the holiday season will be upon us!

And of course, we don't want to rush past all we have planned for this fall. That includes the launch of new Bible studies, welcoming new interns on Capitol Hill, working with She Leads America on their exceptional events, participating in the Nehemiah Alliance initiative, and praying over the Supreme Court's critical cases, which include matters of faith, during its new fall term starting Oct. 5.

Stay tuned for details as they unfold on all of these ministry activities. We appreciate your prayers for specific needs in our planning. As Moses prayed at the conclusion of Psalm 90, we ask, too, for God's blessing in all we do.

"Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!" (Ps. 90:17).

MINISTRY RECAP

  • Post-retreat responses: Following our prayer retreat, we followed up with congressional offices to let them know that we had prayed for each of them by name and are continuing to lift them up in prayer. We received many thankful responses from congressional offices.

  • Studying the Word: We continued our regular weekly activities, including our men’s Bible study.

  • Agreeing in Prayer: We welcomed the Aglow women for a meaningful time of prayer and fellowship at the Ministry Center.

  • White House prayer: Our team participated in the weekly White House prayer call and also joined an U.S. Department of Health and Human Services event to hear about a recently released report on gender medicine insurance fraud.

  • America 250: Prayer warriors come together weekly at our Ministry Center for the America 250 prayer time. We gather to intercede for the nation’s capital and government leaders who must make critical decisions.

  • National prayer and fasting: We had a planning call with the national director of the Nehemiah Alliance initiative, which will have its culminating event on October 31. This is a meaningful national initiative with 52 days of prayer and fasting for our nation leading up to the Nov. 3 election.

  • Congress and the courts: We had a planning call for the Commission of Congress events and the Consecration of the Courts with communion at the Ministry Center this fall.

  • Mentoring meet-ups: We have ongoing mentoring meet-ups and additional prayer times scheduled.

  • Events abound! We’re working through details for several upcoming events, including the 24-hour Bible Reading Marathon outside the Capitol, the Live Nativity, and more.
