Covering the Capital: Your Prayers in God's Throne Room

Do you ever think about how much God values our prayers? Consider this:  

"And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each holding a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints" (Rev. 5:8). 

As a child of God, your prayers make it to the heavenly throne room! If you ever doubt that praying is important, think about that. 

Prayer was certainly our theme last week! Not only did we have groups coming to meet and pray at the Ministry Center, we also embarked on our annual three-day retreat, which is wholly devoted to communion with the Father and to intercession.

For the believer who abides in Christ, prayer becomes as natural as breathing. But there is something to be said about getting away from the grind, being still in the beauty of God's creation, and agreeing in prayer at a time set apart for this very purpose. 

What did we pray about? This list kept us very busy! 

  • All three branches of our government. 

  • Every Senator and Representative by name. 

  • Every intern and every congressional staffer. 

  • The work of our ministry. 

  • Individual needs of our Faith & Liberty team members. 

  • And you, our partners in ministry! 

Thank you for sharing your requests, for watching our videos on our Facebook page, and for participating with us from afar. We greatly value your continuing prayers for all of the above!

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth (1 Tim. 2:1-4).

MINISTRY RECAP

  • Men for Nations: A group of men from Men for Nations (pictured below) gathered at our Ministry Center to intercede for our nation and our leaders, and for life, awakening, and revival in America and around the world.

  • Eagles of Fire: This group held its monthly prayer meeting at the Ministry Center. A ministry couple from Scotland also joined them. 

  • Senate service: We met with and offered Senate Chaplain Barry C. Black and his office staff prayer. Chaplain Black spiritually mentors and guides all the Senate members — which is quite the responsibility! 

  • Religious liberty: Patty Bills recently participated in the White House Faith Office National Conference Call to discuss religious liberty. The call featured Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, who was recently confirmed. 

  • America 250: Prayer warriors come together weekly at our Ministry Center for the America 250 prayer time. We gather to intercede for the nation’s capital and government leaders who must make critical decisions.
