Planned Parenthood's Bizarre Notion of Equality

Apr 30, 2021

There has been much debate lately about the sexual perversions that the grossly misnamed "Equality Act" protects and promotes. While those aspects of the bill are deeply disturbing, there is something even more evil in this legislation.

Planned Parenthood advocates have decided that "Equality" includes the right to murder children—and they've buried a deadly agenda in the bill's text.

If the so-called "Equality Act" passes, abortion up to birth—even gruesome late-term abortions that rip off limbs—will be federally protected. Every state abortion law will be overridden. No one, not even religious institutions or doctors, will be allowed to refuse to provide such a horrific, life-ending "service."

No person, church, school, hospital, doctor, pharmacist—no one—will be able to escape the "Equality Act." No Religious Freedom Restoration Act. No conscience protection. Even your "perceptions" and "beliefs" (using the bill's own words) will not be able to evade its reach.

The bill applies to "pregnancy, childbirth or a related medical condition." Treatment for pregnancy or childbirth includes "treatment" to abort the child. Every state law will be preempted. No parental notice or consent, informed consent—no restrictions whatsoever on abortion from conception to birth.

ALL hospitals, medical providers, pharmacists, employers and insurance companies will be forced to participate in chemical and surgical abortions. Abortions will be publicly funded and covered by private insurance.

Health insurance offered by churches, religious schools and employers must cover abortion. No one can refuse because the "Equality Act" revokes the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA)!

Remember Hobby Lobby and Little Sisters of the Poor who objected to abortion-inducing drugs and devices? They won under RFRA. They will not win under the "Equality Act."

In addition to gutting religious freedom, the "Equality Act" will preempt every state law. Any abortion restriction will violate this bill if passed into law.

This bill will also force crisis pregnancy centers to refer women for abortion. This is what California tried to do a few years ago. Thankfully, Attorney General Xavier Becerra (now secretary of Health and Human Services) was dragged into court—and lost. But if the "Equality Act" passes, these bloodthirsty extremists will once again force crisis pregnancy centers to refer women to abortion providers.

There is NOTHING EQUAL about eliminating a helpless life and revoking religious freedom for all.

+ + The bill revokes the Religious Freedom Restoration Act...

In 1993, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act was passed unanimously in the House, 97-3 in the Senate and was signed into law by Democrat President Bill Clinton. It was supported by liberals, conservatives, Democrats, Republicans and Independents. But the "Equality Act" is so radical that it expressly states RFRA cannot be raised as a claim or defense.

When Obamacare forced religious organizations to provide abortion-inducing drugs and devices, Hobby Lobby and the Little Sisters of the Poor sued using the federal RFRA and won! Under HR 5, they would lose.

HR 5 is a dangerous bill and is now LIVE in the U.S. Senate and can be voted on at any time! The Senate is our last chance—our only chance—to stop this outrageous bill.

This is not just a horrific threat to religious liberty; this is a full assault against you and every person and institution, including Faith & Liberty!

We have bipartisan support to keep the filibuster—which requires 60 Senate votes. The Democrats do not have 60 votes. That is why they are looking for ways to sneak this bill through on a voice vote. Every minute of every day we need one person on the floor to object. That objection will force a full vote for cloture that needs 60 senators to pass.

We are working with senators to guard the floor. WE NEED EVERY VOTE AND EVERY VOICE. We need your voice NOW to send a strong message.

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) was a co-sponsor of the "Equality Act" last year. She has now withdrawn her support of the bill she previously co-sponsored!

Psalm 127 tells us that children are a gift from the Lord. Please help us defend the lives of the unborn by stopping HR 5!

STOP this bill from becoming law. I'm asking you to act now and fax the Senate.
